Postcard

I live in a postcard.
Bright white mountain peaks
pierce an achingly blue sky;
cotton-ball clouds cluster below,
forming an ethereal necklace.
On earth,
dogwoods and lilacs
spread their branches wide,
treating my eyes
to their bright pinks
and delicate lavenders.
Other trees,
not to be outdone,
offer greens in forty hues.
Today’s earlier rain
scrubbed the skies to an
unearthly shine.
And all this is free;
all this is mine.
